Nature at Night Series: Lunar Eclipse & Constellations

Registration for groups or individuals is requested, by donation

There’s no better night to kick off the first installment of our Nature at Night Series than the night of a lunar eclipse! Join us at The Nature Museum for some late night learning about the lunar eclipse taking place in the wee hours of Friday morning and an introduction to the constellations that decorate the night sky. If conditions permit, we’ll get to see celestial bodies observable with the naked eye and take a closer look through a high power telescope!

This event will happen rain or shine, but offerings may change depending on sky conditions. We’ll have a chance to learn about the exciting lunar eclipse happening in the wee hours of Friday morning, as well as the celestial bodies visible to the naked eye in winter. If we are lucky enough to have a clear night, we’ll get to practice identifying constellations and take a look at them through a telescope!

If conditions permit, we will be spending time outdoors observing the night sky. Be prepared for winter weather with proper footwear, clothing, water, and snacks to keep you safe and comfortable. Be sure to bring warm layers; bring one more clothing layer than you think you'll need. We may be observing in stillness for portions of the time and you won't be generating a lot of body heat! Sit mats and portable camp stools will be available, or bring your favorite cushion.
